Road Bypassing toll to Open Soon, Work almost Complete

Road Bypassing toll to Open Soon, Work almost Complete

The alternative four-lane road (5km), bypassing Kherki Daula toll plaza, built by Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) — formerly known as Huda — is 98% complete as the department has finsished work on the 400m stretch between Sector 76-77.

Officials of the development authority told TOI that they are now waiting for a green signal from the higher authorities to officially open this road to commuters. “We are waiting for a dignitary or any other official to open this road,” said a senior official of the department.

5 km bypass road

Shweta Sharma, executive engineer, HSVP, said: “Minor work like road signage and painting is left which will be done soon.” Sources informed TOI that on Sunday workers claiming to be from NHAI had dug up the dividing road between sectors 76-77. However, HSVP workers carried out the repair work on Monday morning.

On the other hand, MCEPL, the concessionaire of Kherki Daula toll plaza, has repeatedly objected to the opening of this bypass road stating that once open around 16,000 vehicles would bypass the toll plaza on a daily basis resulting in a revenue loss in the toll collection.

Once opened, commuters from Golf Course road and Faridabad can directly reach Manesar through SPR without needing to cross the busy Kherki Daula toll plaza.

The road is also expected to benefit residents of new sectors 80-90, as they will be able to reach Golf Course road, Sohna road, Faridabad road and other parts of Gurugram without having to cross the toll plaza. HSVP had begun work on the 5km road, including 2.8km from SPR to Shikohpur Nagar and 2.2 km from Shikohpur to NH-8 in January this year. The project’s cost is Rs 33.69 crore. The new route will start from the road dividing sectors 75-75A, and meet NH-8 near Sector 83.

Manoj Lakhani, a resident of DLF New Town Heights in Sector 90 said, “If this road gets fully operational, it will be huge relief for thousands of commuters who travel to Manesar on a daily basis. The authority should soon complete the pending work and open this stretch. It would also reduce our travel time as we would not have to wait in queues at the toll plaza.
